How to Build a Positive Self Esteem

What do you do after founding one of the most successful corporations in the world & then discovering one fine day that venture capitalists made the moolah, while you were neither too rich nor particularly wanted in your own company. Most people would think of this as a nightmare or probably get depressed or indulge in self pity. But, if you have self-esteem anywhere close to Jim Clark, all you need to do is start all over again. And do it with inimitable style. That’s exactly what the entrepreneurial & gutsy Clark did after being bounded out of Sun Microsystems. He is perhaps the first man to have founded $3 billion corporations – Netscape & Healthion.
For starters, that’s what a dose of self-esteem can do for you. It can probably help you achieve the same spectacular results as Clark.

What is self-esteem?
Simply put, self-esteem is how you feel about yourself. Unless you perceive yourself as worthwhile, you cannot have a high self-esteem. And a high self-esteem is something everybody should have. It plays a major role in determining your successes & failures. If you have a high self-esteem you will grow in conviction, competence & willingness to accept responsibility. You will face life with optimism, have better relationships & ultimately live a fulfilling life.

If you have a high self-esteem you have nothing to worry about. But what if you are on the other end of the spectrum & have a low self-esteem? How do you recognize somebody with a poor self-esteem? Apart from thinking negatively all the time, people with low self-esteem will be:
Gossipmongers – Have a critical nature – Have a big ego; be arrogant & believe “I know-it-all” – Close minded & self-centered – Never accept responsibility.

Tips to Build Positive Self Esteem :

Substitute the negative into positive: All you have to do is change the way you think. Tell yourself that I am good instead of saying that I am no good. Turn those stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
Be a strong person: Refuse to let disappointments & failures pull you down. Learn to be strong both emotionally & physically. Work on yourself to look & feel good.
Compliment: Learn the art of complimenting people genuinely & receiving compliments sincerely. When somebody pays you a compliment remember to say thank you.
Accept responsibility: For what you do. Don’t blame any & everything around you. Like that school student who blames his teachers & the education system for his failure.

Try to inculcate these tips in your life & you will have a high self-esteem & consequently a happy & rewarding life.
