Use voice to control your TV in multiple languages, including English and Spanish. DISH customers can expect it to be available starting in the first half of this year. It will work with all generations of DISH’s Hopper DVR, all models of its Joey client, and its Wally single-tuner HD receiver.
DISH has provided a list of sample commands that will work with its boxes once the update goes through. Here they are.

LG Uplus adds Google Assistant to IPTV set-top box
South Korea’s third largest mobile carrier, has added Google Assistant to its Internet Protocol TV service set-top box.
Subscribers of LG Uplus tv will be able to use Google Assistant through the set-top box’s designated remote control.
Its 2 million subscribers can use voice commands to load YouTube, Google Photo, Google Search, and Google Translate.
LG is expecting YouTube Search to be the biggest hit among users. Previously, YouTube could be only searched through the use of keywords but Google Assistant will allow users to search the video they want by describing scenes and moments and relevant videos will be shown. Users can simply say “Play yoga video on YouTube” or “Play make-up tutorials” to search for and watch video clips they want.
Using Google Photos, users can name places, people, and objects via voice command and relevant pictures from their smartphones will be shown on the TV screen. Google Translate will support 21 languages and the translation will be shown on the TV screen.
Bouygues Telecom adds Google Assistant to TV STB
French operator Bouygues Telecom has added support for the Google Assistant on its Android TV box. The voice commands can be used on the Bbox 4K since last update.

Customers can launch the Google Assistant by pressing the ‘Micro’ button on the remote control. This allows to perform commands by voice such as changing the channel or volume, launching apps or the radio, and searching VoD catalogues. They can also perform everyday tasks with the Google Assistant, such as assembling a shopping list, checking the weather or traffic and controlling other smart home devices, recognizing precise commands such as:

All in all, from the comfort of your own couch, you now have all the capabilities of the Google Assistant right from the remote control. It is a nice increase of performance compared to the basic voice search integrated until now.
