How to listen audiobooks on Google Nest/Home speakers?

Play

• A book: “Read [book title].”
• Continue your most recent book: Hey Google, Read my book.

Control what’s playing

• Pause or stop: “Pause.” “Stop.”
• Resume: “Resume.” “Continue.”
• Go forward: “Skip [amount of time].” “Next chapter.”
• Go backward: “Go back [amount of time].” “Previous chapter.”
• Go Faster/slower: “Play at 2x speed,” “play slower/faster,” or “play at twice/half the speed.”
• Status: “How much time is left?”
• Find info: “Who wrote this?” “How much time is left?” “who is the author?”
• To set a timer for bedtime reading “Hey Google, stop playing in 20 minutes”

Change the volume

You can set the volume to a specific level (1–10) or percentage (1–100%).

• Increase: “Turn it up.” The volume will increase by 10%.
• Decrease: “Turn it down.” The volume will decrease by 10%.
• Set a level or percentage: “Volume 5.” “Volume to 65%.”

Control audiobooks from the Google Home app

If you’re using your Google Assistant on a speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock, you can change the volume in the Google Home app.

1. On your phone or tablet, open the Google Home app .
2. At the bottom, tap Home .
3. Tap your device  Pause, play, or change the volume.

For now, the Google Assistant integration with audiobooks is available on Android phones and smart speakers globally in English. It will be coming soon to the Assistant on Android Auto in the U.S.

Play Books offers over 5 million eBooks in 75 countries, and interest in audiobooks is on the rise, along with audio content generally (e.g. digital music, podcasts, etc.).

Audiobooks will be available in 45 countries that include most of Europe, as well as North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, India and a select number of Asian countries and nine languages(English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, Korean, Japanese and Polish.) starting today.
