Introducing Wear OS. Information that moves with you. Useful information when you need it most – at a glance or in a word.

Major functions of Android Wear:
1. Google Now-style “homescreen” with a scrollable list of cards,
2. Notification system that alerts you to information from your smartphone, and
3. Series of contextual tools that pop up during certain activities.

It provides a series of cards with contextual information based on your Google info, like Email, location, browsing history, recent Hangouts chats, flight times, making reservations, sending texts, controlling your music playback, etc. Wear OS watches feature always-on displays, so youโ€™ll always see important info like time, calls, and alerts. You can respond to messages right from your watch, even when your phone isnโ€™t with you.

Also, Wear is aware of your current activities, your location and type of movement. Like in this video, when a user started dancing, watch issued a pop-up offering to identify the song. Doesn’t this look like the future is all upon us all of a sudden.

Update: 2018-05-14 Get more done with Google Assistant on Wear OS using smart suggestions, audio replies, & Actions on Google support

Last year Google brought the Assistant to your wrist, making it easy to find answers and get things done while youโ€™re on the go. Now, Google has added few features that make getting help from the Google Assistant even more convenient on your watch and to make Google Assistant more full featured.

Smart suggestions in Google Assistant.

Scrolling up after asking Assistant a query will reveal a list of related suggestions โ€” like follow-up questions โ€” in rounded bubbles that users can select to continue the conversation. When asking about the weather, these responses include: weather tonight, tomorrow, and this weekend, as well as the ability to switch to celsius. Aimed at providing quick interactions, and similar to how Assistant works on phones with a carousel of suggestion chips at the bottom of every screen.

Audio replies: Assistant will now begin speaking replies when relevant through either a paired Bluetooth headset or the built-in watch speaker. For example, if youโ€™re listening to music on your way to work, try asking the Google Assistant to โ€œtell me about my day.โ€ Youโ€™ll hear some helpful information, like your commute times and upcoming agenda, from your watch speaker or Bluetooth headphones.

Assistant Actions(Actions on Google) on Wear OS.

Over 1 million Assistant actions will be supported and available on smartwatches. Beyond voice replies, this includes the ability to display text on the display. Google is bringing Actions to all Wear OS by Google watches, so you can use your voice to preheat your LG oven while youโ€™re unloading your groceries, ask Bay Trains when the next train is leaving, and more.
